Liebe Blogleser, hier mal vorerst meine letzten Ferienerlebnisse... Regelmässige Einträge werde ich dann erst ab August 2007 schreiben können, wenn ich nämlich in BALI bin für EIN GANZES JAHR!!! ;o)
Hello everbody
Where to start? Well, this time I caught my flight on time (not
like last year when I just waved the plane goodbye instead of actually
sitting in it) and I arrived in bangkok in good health :o)
Everything went fine and I saved a lot of money because the friendly
taxi-driver showed me where I can take the bus... hmmm, everybody here
who has "something" to drive, drives just crayz all the time, as if they
have to run from death or something really bad...
Anyway, I survived the crazy drive without heart-attack. My next
mission was to find a cheap hotel or guest-house. A very difficult
mission indeed... I finally found one that HAD a window, a shower AND
was clean... Even though it smelled awfully bad in that room... I think
even during sleeping it made me feel nauseous because I woke up feeling
a bit sick... And then I wanted to explore this nice tourist-area in which I
found my guest-house... This area calls banglamphoo and there are lots
of shops around... and many many many many locals who always want to
sell you something.
I went to Bangkok because I wanted to feel the feeling of being
also home here where my dad comes from... But I have to say very
frankly that I was deeply disappointed, because everytime someone asks
where you from and then hears Switzerland gets big dollar-signs in
their eyes... And thats all what matters, to get as many out of the
tourists as possible even if it's such a nice and friendly girl like
me... Then even more... And if you don't buy anything people get angry
at you... So I went early to bed, with my romantic expectations
shatterd and exhausted from the long travel .. I couldn't even
really sleep. Well, I fell asleep and woke up in a panic because
I thought it was already late in the morning and that I've overslept...
In fact it was just one hour later than when I got to bed... Finally,
at 4 in the morning, I decided to read in my funny book and to forget
about that bad start. I always seem to have problems at the first day...
NEXT day I planned to go on a biking-tour. Yes, you read it right,
a biking-tour in the middle of Bangkok. It was a GREAT experience. If
you ever go to Bangkok, go on that biking-tour and you will be
delightet about what you get to see... So, after a really good pancake
(I love pancakes) I caught a taxi and off I was, not really knowing
what to expect... So then there I was... Surrounded from dutchpeople
(really funny to listen at, but that language does sound kind of ugly,
well I suppose swiss-german does also)... The tour was really good
organised, the thai-guide very friendly and informative and the
equipment in good shape... So first we drove through heavy traffic but
soon we were in an area where very poor thai live.. There are no cars
because everything is so narrow... It was very interesting to see how
they live... they're not poor in the sense of having no food or so,
just in the material sense of way they are poor.. We also visited a
school there and the kids were delighted to see us! it was far more
interesting for them to make faces in front of our cameras than to be quite and
listen to the teacher... but I think it is never quite there... already
from quite far away we heard the kids yell and laugh...
then we crossed the river by long-tail-boat and continued our trip
at an island in the middle of the river... Because it is so wet there
people often build their houses on stakes and many little ways and
pathes on stakes too... one of our group fell down from such a way on
stakes... Because nothing happend to her we had a good laugh at her
afterwards, it looked so funny how she fell, almost in slow-motion and
her only reaction was to hold her camera high over her head...
hahaha... yes then we continued cross-country and that is something I
love to... See the nature, see how people live in the countryside ;o)
...
In the afternoon I went shopping but didn't shop so much for myself... Instead I found some nice presents for my friends...
And now it's evening and I am still out and I really start enjoying it. It's a lot better than in stinky hotel-room :o)
-----------------------------
And now I'm in Bali! I love it! Everyday I'm taking my board and fight
my way trough those f****** d*** big waves and get washed pretty
roughly...
But I should start telling from the beginning... On my first day I met
my sister who was also on vacation here in Bali and had dinner with
her... So the first day was nice for a change ;op ... And next day we
went on a horse riding trip along the beach. That was so funny because
we galloped full speed along the sandy beach and sometimes trough big
waves... One wave unfortunately caught my sisters horse and both cast a
summersault... Fortunately nobody got seriously hurt, but the horse
limped a bit then... Still it was quite an experience and we enjoyed it
tremendously... Late at night on the same day we started to go to a
vulcano tour... so we got there by 4 o clock in the morning and started
walking upwards... It was really peacful walking up that mountain
during nighttime... I couldn't believe that our guide was walking up
those steep trail in flip flops... but he actually managed it quite
well where we already had a hard time with our good running shoes ;o)
When we started, the nightsky was star-studded but when we arrived at
the top of the vulcano, we were shrouded in thick mist... We were quite
disappointed because we wanted to see the sunrise. But what spectacle
we got to see: Within three seconds, the mist suddenly vanished and we
had a great view and then the sun started rising up behind the
mountains, spilled red light on the unique landscape... So all we could
do was forget the cold air and just stand there, stunned about the
beauty of nature... Well, but then we had to climb down... Puhhh, that
was hard but we all survived it ;o)
And on two other days I just travelled around Bali by motorbike (with a
guide of course) and fortunately we weren' stopped by any policemen...
They always stop tourists for no reason and want some money... when you
pay you can go on... don't know what happens if you don't want to
pay... Those were two interesting days and I visited many places, went
snorkeling, visited the monkey forest, some cultural places and
beautiful beaches etc.
Then I went to camp... What I do there? EAT, SLEEP and SURF ;o) I am
pretty proud because I caught two green waves so far and some really
fast white water ones... Take off is a lot better and faster than last
year so I am sure that, if only I could stay a bit longer, I would soon
be a pro... hahahah, no, I don't think I am that talented but we all
have our dreams, right?
On one weekend, I went to Java (other Island in Indonesia) to see some
other parts in Indonesia... It was nice (especially the bustrip in a
public bus... Just imagine it is really hot, the bus is more than full
and sellers are trying to sell their stuff by always yelling what they
have to sell....) I also visited cultural places there and everybody
was very friendly. My guide was a local there so it was pretty easy to
get around...
And in Camp, we went on a trip to Medewi to Agus home (Agus is one of
our sufguides)... I love that trip (already went there last year)
because you really see how people live there... We arrived there early
in the morning and went surfing after having breakfast (Agus mom is
famous for the best pancakes in whole Bali)... There I caught my
second green wave, and a really good one. That feeling was so
fantastic... Then you know why you endure all that paddling, getting
washed, bruised, injured etc. ;o) For the feeling to ride a good
wave!!! In the evening we organised a good party: An orchester with
bamboo-instruments (about fifty people and the instruments were just
huge) played music and a balinese-girl danced to it... Later she chose
people to dance with her. As guests, of course, we had to dance too,
that was so very funny because we are kind of unused to traditional
dancing so everybody (almost all villagers turn up) had a good laugh at
us!
Yes,
and now I am tired of writing and it is my last day too, so I just say
that I had a fantastic time in Bali, good surfing, good people and a
lot of fun (and good food of course, oh, I almost forgot to say, we
often went to an Indian Restaurant to eat Brownies with vanilla
icecream and hot choclate! wow, that was an experience nobody should
miss when going to Bali!!! hahaha, yes you heard it right, eat damn
good Brownies in Bali ;op
And if anybody needs tipps for a trip to Bali, don't hesitate to ask me. I know some good guides and good places to go!
Hang loose,
Kim
